Unbs says imported used cars to undergo inspection

Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is mandated to protect   the health and safety of the public and the environment through the Implementation and Enforcement of Compulsory Uganda Standards.

Used Motor Vehicles imported into the country are assessed against the Uganda Standards (US) 845:2017 – Road Vehicles   Requirements for Inspection and Testing of Used Motor Vehicles for Roadworthiness, a compulsory Uganda Standard before   shipment.

In line with the UNBS Inspection and Clearance of Imports Regulations, 2018, all Used Motor Vehicles exported from Singapore and South Africa that have been previously exempted from PVoC Inspection shall commence undergoing Inspection for Roadworthiness through the PVoC Uganda Program from 01st November, 2021.

This is therefore to notify all Importers of Used Motor Vehicles and other stakeholders that PVoC for Used Motor Vehicles from Singapore and South Africa which will be shipped from the Bill of Lading date of 01st November, 2021 MUST BE INSPECTED and accompanied with a Valid Certificate of Road Worthiness (CRW) issued by the current PVoC Service Providers EAA Company Ltd and Quality Inspection Services Japan (QUISJ), whose addressed are attached.

Importers/ Exporters from Singapore and South Africa who voluntarily wish their Used Motor Vehicles to be Inspected under the PVoC Program before the commencement date are free to do so.

The existing PVoC Program for the countries of Japan, UK and UAE remain unchanged.
