The Prime Minister of Buganda has launched the plan of putting voicing and documents of Luganda online using Mozilla.

This plan is being led by Makerere University and the kingdom of Buganda partnered with Makerere to put voicing and documents online.

While launching this plan, the Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga says that developed countries use their languages because they think in their languages.

He says it’s a big opportunity for Luganda to go online because people will have knowledge of what is going on and it is dangerous for us not to know our languages.

The Prime Minister showed concern that the subjects that are taught, and the adverts on the roadsides are in English, “clinging to foreign languages is one of the reasons why we are in poverty”.

“It is a blessing for Luganda to go online, because everyone will follow what is taking place and us leaving our languages is dangerous,” he informed.

The minister of culture Hon. David Kyewalabye Male who represented the minister of education Hon. Dr. Prosperous Nankindu Kavuma signed for the Kingdom and Prof. Tonny Oyana  signed on behalf of Makerere University.
