The Opposition MPs have resolved not attend Plenary until MPs Allan Ssewanyana and Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya are produced in courts of law.
They also demand for government to explain the whereabouts of other opposition supporters who have been in detention for a while.
This was during a press conference at parliament on Wednesday attended by the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga and Opposition Chief Whip John Baptist Nambeshe, among others.
The opposition MPs say that they cannot attend to Parliament Business when the rights of their colleagues are being violated.
“We walked out of Parliament yesterday because the State failed to give a satisfactory response to our demands for an explanation on the whereabouts of our colleagues; Hon Allan Ssewannyana and Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya,” Mpuuga said.
“Much grateful to my colleagues in Parliament led by Rt. Hon. Matthias Mpuuga for making such a strong statement against the continued persecution of Hon. Allan Ssewanyana and Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad; and by extension, other political prisoners,” said Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake.
“It must be because of the pressure you comrades put up that security agencies have now been forced to capitulate into transferring our comrades to Masaka for due process. This, too, shall pass.”
