Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya has been released from prison on bail.
The lawmaker on Monday morning appeared before the International Crimes Division of High Court in Kampala.
His release from Kigo prison had been delayed on technicalities after being granted a cash bail of Shs20m last week.
He is jointly charged with his Makindye West Counterpart Allan Sewanyana in connection to the machete murders in the greater Masaka area.
Ssegirinya’s surety Hon Francis Zaake left the country for US shortly after the bail ruling.
As such, the MP remained in jail until this morning when his legal team organized a surety replacement.
National Unity Platform party this picked Hon. Nsanja Patrick to substitute Zaake in standing as surety for Hon. Ssegirinya.
