Ugandan scientists developing Covid19 vaccine, cure
President Kaguta Museveni says the COVID19 death has been kept reasonably low mainly because of the earlier stringent decisive measures put in place by government.
He was Sunday addressing the nation on matters affecting the country.
“In the battle against coronavirus and other viruses, our scientists have given us good news “they have developed seven wonderful products, six are under trial and one an immune booster, ” he noted.
He said the world is about to get out of this nightmare by getting a vaccine or even a cure.
“In Uganda, we are working on both; especially the cure looks very promising. Therefore don’t allow the boat to sink when it’s about to reach the shore.”
He said starting on the 15th December 2020, patients under strict supervision will have this medicine (COVID19) tested on them.
Museveni adds that the scientists have similarly developed two diagnostic tests with one able to provide results after two minutes.
He said political aspirants who are putting citizens at harm’s way by not observing COVID19 SOPs put in place by government must be condemned “some candidates, however, from the beginning swore not to observe SOPs”.
