Police Tuesday fired teargas in Rukungiri town to welcome former security minister Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde.
Tumukunde entered the western Ugandan town in a procession of boda boda riders.
Police blocked the road and disperse boda boda cyclists escorting him with teargas.
“But why??” Tumukunde complained on his social media.
He was later allowed to launch his campaign at Rukungiri Main Stadium.
“Ugandans out there should come out singularly, enthusiastically and defend themselves, defend their votes, we may not be there to tell you because we may not have the opportunity,” he said earlier.
Tumukunde is running for president under “Renewed Uganda” flag.
