Patrick Amuriat aka the villager Monday evening finally reached the village in Soroti district.
The FDC presidential candidate set off to Soroti for the launch of his campaigns amidst tear gas and bullets along the way.
“We thank the people of Njeru, Jinja, Inganga, Bugweri, Namutumba, Budaka, Mbale, Bukedea, Kumi Ngola and finally soroti where the barefoot campaigns were launched,” the party said.
Soroti City is the town that birthed Presidential Candidate Hon. Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat.
He made a stop over at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kumi Municipality where Mass was being sung to bless his Candidature.
In Mbale city, he was joined by Secretary General Majegere Nathan Nandala Mafabi as Police and Army blocked all roads.
He later reached in the evening in a procession of cars, boda bodas and pedestrians.
Once again, Amuriat was not wearing shoes as was the case at his nomination.
According to Mafabi, the shoes which got lost during his arrest, are still missing.
According to Kizza Besigye’s aide Ronald Muhinda, police warned that they didn’t want to teargas Soroti Sports Grounds because it was near a hospital.
They thoroughly worked on Soroti Mayor’s Gardens that EC proposed as an alternative to POA.
