Nancy Kalembe, the only woman in the presidential race competing against 9 men has duly been nominated by the Uganda Electoral Commission to run for presidency in the 2021 general elections.
“Today is a great day. I’m hopeful that Uganda is ready for the first female commander-in-chief and the first female president,” she said after being nominated.
On Monday, the Independent candidate was not nominated.
She hadn’t paid Shs20m to Electoral Commission as part of the requirement before she is nominated as presidential candidate in the 2021 race.
She promised to pay back the fee and return Tuesday for nomination, an exercise that was successful.
She was handed a car and security detail to help in her campaigns.
