NUP secretary general Rubongoya arrested after NBS TV show
Security last night arrested and whisked away National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary-General, David Rubongoya.
This was after his appearance on NBS Front Line show.
He was first blocked from accessing Next Media Offices in Naguru.
Rubongoya says that the Police did not tell him why he was being arrested.
He was blocked while leaving Next Media Park after “NBS Frontline” programme.
He was later released after being detained at Kira Road Police Station.
He says he was charged with possession of material resembling military attire, the ‘red beret’.
Frontliner and DP President Norbert Mao stood surety for Rubongoya.
“It shouldn’t surprise anybody, this is just intimidation,” Rubongoya said on release.
“The beret we put on is not a military beret, this is just politics.”
