Counsel Enock Barata, the head of the NRM Elections tribunal told the media that in the Quick over view in regards to petition, for the last seven days they received over 516 petitions and so far, have heard 453 petitions from the Greater Masaka, Rwenzori, West Nile, Busoga, Kigezi, Lango, greater Mukono, Ankole greater Luweero and West Nile.
He then noted that today Sunday 4th October 2020, the tribunal will handle over 45 petitions from Kampala, Wakiso and Elgon Region.
Today Monday 5th October 2020, the Tribunal will handle Karamoja and Teso Region.
“Our aim is to give our decisions between 24 hrs. By Wednesday, we shall be done.’’
Director in charge of Legal affairs -NRM, Counsel Oscar Kihika said they have received petitions in the last 7 days.
The process of receiving the Petitions was smooth and they had a deadline of Monday 5th October 2020 when to offload all the cases.
Apparently, NRM takes decisions after Hearings from both sides and these decisions are made within 24 hours.
