Makerere university Vice Chancellor Prof Edward Nawangwe has promised to restore the burnt main building in the shortest time possible.
The Ivory Tower caught fire Sunday morning with massive damages.
“It is a very dark morning for Makerere University,” Nawangwe said.
“Our iconic Main Administration Building caught fire and the destruction is unbelievable.”
He added: “But we are determined to restore the building to its historic state in the shortest time possible.”
It is not clear what started the fire not has the damage been disclosed.
The fire at Makerere University has affected more areas which include Human Resources department, Records Department and Finance.
