Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has officially received the Deputy President of People’s Government Lord Mayor of Kampala Erias Lukwago into the party.

Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago was officially ushered into FDC by party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat Tuesday at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.

“Welcome to this party,” Amuriat told Lukwago at an event attended by founding President Kizza besigye.

“I request that you bear with me. I will not go into those issues, the reason why I left DP. What I will focus on is the reason why I joined FDC,” Lukwago said in his speech.

“My decision has not been informed by the desire to come for anything material. I am not here because I have come to scheme anything. I have not come to FDC as a fortune hunter. I have not come here for a meal card.”

Lukwago said members of colour blue family with the FDC ticket should not treat it as a meal card.

“It is the gun that is responsible for the crisis that we are facing today. It was described by Dr. Byesige in his book as the unfinished business. It is our responsibility to finish that business.”

Lukwago said there are those charlatans that are ill bent on maligning him.

“I am a seasoned politician but not a seasonal one. I have taken this decision to join FDC as a seasoned politician but not a seasonal one.”

He added: “I am at peace with my conscience, my heart and my soul. In good and bad times, sickness and health, swallowing teargas and watermelon, we shall always be together.”
