Airtel Uganda has removed mobile money charges to ease online transactions for Ugandans during the 32-day lockdown due to coronavirus.
“Avoid cash. Send money through Airtel Money at no cost,” the telecom announced on Friday morning.
“No charges applicable to any Airtel to Airtel transaction value till 19th April 2020,” it added.
When contacted for clarification, a customer care agent told edge.ug: “Yes its true. You can send money using Airtel money at no cost. Airtel to Airtel.”
The telecom also urged its customers to download “My Airtel” app on Google Play or App Store (https://airtelug.page.link/pop2) or dial *185# to get started.
