MPs Aol, Katushabe threaten to undress, sleep in parliament

Opposition legislators led by the leader of Opposition in Parliament Betty Aol Ochan have vowed to sleep in the chambers of Parliament on Tuesday next week after the parliamentary sitting protesting the increasing assassination attempts on some legislators.

The fire spitting opposition MPs Friday told press this follows government’s failure to address these assassination attempts on legislators like Bukonzo West MP Atikens Katushabe.

Hon Aol says the Police has not responded to the cry on the members.

She says members of the Opposition shall sleep in the chambers of the House after Tuesday’s plenary sitting to express their discontentment if no action is taken by then.

Katushabe, in his turn, said they are ready to undress on the floor of Parliament.

“I don’t know if it will work but I have no choice now,” Katushabe said.

He says a man on a boda boda cautioned him on the assassination plot prior to the attempt in his constituency in Kasese district.

He says he was later put on gun point by men in army uniform as warned prior.
