Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni has arrived at Makerere University main campus to preside over the 70th graduation ceremony.
Janet was accompanied by Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, the Chancellor of Makerere University Prof Ezra Suruma and the Vice-Chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe.
The Tuesday January 14, 2020 met with a lot of controversies following a gown crisis the university blamed on its supplier who breached the contract.
On Monday, Nawangwe said all graduands for 14th and 15th January should by now have collected their graduation gowns, invitation letters and graduation booklets.
Students graduating on 16th January [Makerere university business school-MUBS may collect their graduation gowns from MUBS Nakawa campus.
He said arrangements are in final stages for all students graduating on Friday 17th to collect their graduation gowns starting on Wednesday 15th at 2:00pm from their respective college registers.
“Welcome to the 70th Graduation of Makerere. This is day 1 and we look forward to a great week of celebration and joy to the Graduands, parents and guardians,” management said on Tuesday morning.
“The figure 50.5%: 49.5% Female to Male graduands is a major score in this University’s history.”
