Muhoozi and Mulangi

First son Muhoozi Kainerugaba Saturday hosted a top South African army officer, Lt Gen Mulangi Mphego.

Gen Mulangi is a special advisor to the Deputy President of South Africa David Mabuza.

“Today, it was my pleasure to meet and discuss with Lt.General Mulangi Mphego,” said Kainerugaba, the Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations (Uganda).

He added: “He paid me a courtesy call.”

Crisis back home

Mulangi’s visit comes amid a rumoured split between his boss Mabuza and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

But Ramaphosa says there is no “schism” between himself and deputy president Mabuza over the load-shedding crisis at Eskom.

He was addressing guests at an ANC gala dinner in Kimberley, shortly after the presidency confirmed that Eskom board chairperson Jabu Mabuza had resigned.

Eskom board chair Jabu Mabuza resigns over load-shedding

Eskom board chairperson Jabu Mabuza has resigned from the board of the power utility a day after Deputy President said the board misled Ramaphosa.

Ramaphosa appeared to throw his weight behind his deputy on Friday night.

He said Mabuza resigned after apologising for Eskom having not fulfilled the undertaking the parastatal made in December that there would be no load-shedding between December 9 and January 13.
