The ruling National Resistance Movement [NRM] will hold its National Executive Committee [NEC] meeting and the National Delegates Conference on January 24th and 25th respectively.
It will be held at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in Bweyogerere, Wakiso district.
Among key issues of the day is replacing deceased persons, people who have nonpartisan jobs, people elected to higher offices and including of people are eligible as per the NRM constitution.
NRM communications officer, Rogers Mulindwa, said the National Chairman NRM has guided that the venue for this year’s liberation day celebration remains Ibanda District.
This nullifies earlier reports that the celebrations were going to be at Kololo.
It should be noted that there had been a proposal during the recently held CEC meeting that the day be celebrated in Kololo, after the delegates conference slated for24th/ 25th January 2020.
The assumption was that since most NRM leaders were going to be in Kampala for the conference, shifting the venue would enable them to attend.
The National Chairman has however reigned positively in favour the people of Ibanda District who had already started preparations.
As such therefore, we are called upon to join our national chairman in Ibanda for this year’s historical, heroic liberation day celebration in Ibanda under the theme,” Celebrating the NRM/NRA Patriotic struggle that ushered in National unity and social economic transformation”.
