Burning tyres as Pro-Bobi Wine protests rage in Kasangati

Supporters of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine have blocked roads in Kasangati town council Wakiso district.

They are protesting the arrest of People Power presidential aspirant Monday morning in Gayaza and blocking his consultative meeting.

The angry protesters blocked roads with burning tyres.

Bobi Wine has since been transferred from Kasangati police station to Nagalama Police station in Mukono district.

Journalists arrested

Several journalists were arrested as they reported the unfolding chaos.

They are; Eddy Kisekka (NBS TV), Anold Sseremba (NTV) and Ssematimba Bwejiire (Radio Simba).

One of NTV Uganda drivers Moses Egesa was partially hit by a teargas canister.

NBS Television photo and video journalist Kisekka was ordered to delete footage showing Kyagulanyi’s arrest.

They were later released from custody.

Police also arrested a number People Power coordinators including Kasangati mayor Tony Ssempebwa who heads Bobi Wine’s elections teams.
