Kanda Bongo Man show: police deploys at Sheraton, warns idlers

Uganda Police Force is heavily deploying at Sheraton hotel in Kampala to secure the venue for Congolese legend Kanda Bongo Man’s show.

The show scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday December 31, 2019 will take place at Kampala Sheraton Gardens.

Addressing press at Sheraton hotel on Monday, Central Police Station [CPS] DPC ASP Ronald Wotwali Mayatsa said they will secure the entire Central Business District.

“We are deploying plain-cloth officers to secure in and outside Sheraton hotel starting today. I can assure you that security will be tight,” Mayatsa said.

Speaking at the same press conference, Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango warned idlers to stay away from Sheraton hotel.

He advised revellers not to carry things like bags that will inconvenience them tomorrow, Tuesday December 31, 2019.

“Everyone will be thoroughly checked by police. Nomatter who you are, you will be checked,” Onyango noted.

He said although Uganda Waragi is among the sponsors of the music show, no one should drink and drive.

“Don’t let our officers on the road to inconvenience. If you drink, have some one else to drive you,” Onyango noted.

Events promoter Balaam Barugahara said President Museveni has offered free Fanta sodas for all the bazukulu who will show up to close the year in style.

Century Bottling Company which makes all Coca-Cola Beverages is one of the sponsors of the event.  

He said the gates will be open starting at 10am and the show will go on the entire night.

Kanda Bongo Man will be on stage at 11pm and perform for 45 minutes.

He will then take a break for 30 minutes during the New Year fireworks and resume the rest of the show at 12:15 midnight.
