Congolese veteran vocalist, Kanda Bongo Man, arrived in Uganda Friday ahead of his dance party slated for December 31, 2019, at Sheraton Gardens Kampala.
He will be at Resort beach hotel Entebbe on January 1, 2020.
Balaam Barugahara, city events promoter, was among those who received Bongo Man’s band at Entebbe airport.
According to Balaam, Kanda Bongo Man will hold a press conference on Monday 30th December 2019 at Sheraton hotel at 10am.
Local singers like Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool, Eddy Kenzo, John Blaq and others will also feature at the gig.
The concert is sponsored by Radio 4, Uganda Waragi, Bukedde, Sheraton hotel, Radio Akaboozi and MTN Uganda.
Kanda is a Congolese soukous musician born in Inongo, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
He became the singer for Orchestra Belle Mambo in 1973, developing a sound influenced by Tabu Ley.
Kanda is known for the structural changes he implemented to soukous music.
His form of soukous gave birth to the kwassa kwassa dance rhythm where the hips move back and forth while the hands move to follow the hips.
