Airtel-Fufa awards rise to 14 categories

When the 2019 Airtel – FUFA Awards take center stage on 14th December 2019 at Speke Resort in Munyonyo, more personalities stand to be rewarded.

In total, there are 14 categories of awards that will be recognised, an increment from last year’s 9.

This was confirmed by the chairman of the Airtel – FUFA Awards Rogers Byamukama during the launch of the fifth edition held at Serena Hotel on Wednesday, 16th October 2019.

‘We are excited to have the Airtel – FUFA Awards. This will be the fifth edition running and this time round we have added five more categories. We have added the Airtel – FUFA Best XI for female, Airtel – FUFA Women football coach of the year, best squad (Club/National Team) of a particular Year, FUFA Member Associations’ Awardand the Team Fans of the Year (for all FUFA Competitions like the Star Times Uganda Premier League, Star Times FUFA Big League, FUFA Women Elite League, FUFA Drum and the like)’ Byamukama explained.

The period considered started on 7th December 2018 and the closing date will be 14th December 2019.

Coaches of the FUFA Women Elite League nominated their top 5 candidates for the FUFA Female player of the year 2019.

There will be second round of voting by the coaches and captains for the Male player of the year and Female player of the Year to get the top 5.

Public Voting:

Public voting will get underway after release of top 5 for Male and Female Player of the Year on 14th November until 14th December 2019.

For the fifth year in a row, Airtel Uganda has remained the main sponsors of the awards with a financial kitty of Shs 100M.

Other partners include; Ecobank Uganda Limited, NIC Holdings Limited, Nile Breweries Limited, Pepsi and BIDCO Uganda Limited.
