Presidential advisor on media matters, Tamale Mirundi, says Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s promoter Andrew Mukasa aka Bajjo is a threat to government.

“It is the small things that bring down a government,” Mirundi pointed on Tuesday while appearing on NBS television.

“Look at a mosquito and an elephant. How many people does an elephant kill vs a mosquito in a year?”

Mirundi said politics is not about the size citing the case of “a small” Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze who gives headaches in parliament.

“Have you seen how Nambooze plays parliament? Don’t belittle Bobi Wine.”

Bajjo tricked to take plea?

Court on Tuesday charged Bajjo with inciting violence and offensive communication over remarks he made in relation to President Museveni.

Buganda Road court Grade I Magistrate, Stella Marris Amabilisi remanded him Luzira Prison until 25th June, 2019.

Bajjo, 29, denied the charge of inciting violence but pleaded guilty on offensive communication.

According to his lawyer and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Bajjo had been tricked by the interpreter, ending up pleading guilty on the two counts of offensive communication under the computer misuse Act.

Thanks to Lukwago who convinced the trial magistrate that it will be miscarriage of justice to enter a plea of guilty in absence of an appropriate interpreter.

“How can a whole court fail to produce a Luganda interpreter? They couldn’t find anyone fluent in Luganda?” Lukwago wondered while addressing press after the court session.

The magistrate adjourned the case until June 25 when Bajjo will take plea on the second count.

Mistreated?

He said Bajjo had been mistreated since his brutal arrest on Saturday at Mix Lounge, Centenary Park where he was addressing a press conference in which he announced a marathon organised to facilitate Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine is the founder of People Power, a surging political movement that campaigns to end President Yoweri Museveni’s three-decade presidency, come 2021 general elections.

Bajjo was picked by Presidential Protection Guards (PPG) and later dumped at Special Investigations Division (SID) headquarters.

PPG officers are attached to President’s office and under the Special Forces Command.

They provide security to dignitaries like the First Lady, the Vice President and other persons operating in the President’s office.

The officers dragged Bajjo to a waiting van which sped off to an unknown destination.

Police confirmed that private vehicle license plates, which was security personnel in the operation, are owned by security agencies.

Charges

The prosecution alleges that during the month of June 2019 at various places of Masaka, Mbarara, Ibanda and Kampala, Bajjo incited members of the public to carry out violent acts against the person of the President.

The state further alleges that Bajjo also in June this year with the intent to disturb the peace and privacy of the President, recorded a video and posted it on social media containing messages that he would overthrow the government before 2021.

Bajjo and his colleague Abby Musinguzi alias Abtex in May sued the Police and the Attorney General for stopping Bobi Wine from organising his Kyarenga concerts.
