Women are not sex objects, Barbie tells Kiwanda

Barbie Kyagulanyi

Barbie Kyagulanyi, author, executive director Ghetto President reality TV show, has told off the state minister for Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda for launching “Miss Curvy Uganda” as a tourism project.

The incharge One love beach Busabala, Barbara Itungo is the founder Caring hearts Uganda and a passionate advocate for girls.

Barbie said she cannot understand such a disgusting idea coming from a minister.

This is what she says:

“Curvy, sexy Ugandan women new tourist attraction” says the honourable minister of tourism in Uganda.

Mr. Kiwanda demonstrates the not so often discussed mentality that women are a commodity out here for monetary exchange. The mentality that they are like all the other objects on the market for sale.

It’s with total disbelief that I watched women sit on that long table during a press conference to unveil this campaign where they referred to their fellow women standing right in front of them and cat walking around the swimming pool as the new tourist attraction we have left as a nation.

Women have been dehumanized for so long that some of us don’t get offended by being referred to in such a humiliating manner. We don’t see anything wrong at all with this campaign.

It’s sad and words can’t express my total disgust towards the deep meaning to the whole idea.

Dear women, you are valuable and each one of you chooses how they should be treated. Demand to be respected by all people around you.

Raise your self-esteem so high to a point where you won’t need justification from anyone about how beautiful you are.
