Maraga's car badly damaged

Chief Justice David Maraga has been involved in a minor car accident at Nakuru Ngata, Miti Moja in Nakuru county, a result of over speeding.

Maraga and his wife Yucabeth Nyaboke were rushed to Nakuru War Memorial Hospital.

The two, who are said to be in stable condition, were going to church in Nakuru when their vehicle was hit by a personal car.

The car’s bonnet and front bumper were badly damaged, according to pictures from the scene.

Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Mongo Chimwaga told Daily Nation that Judge Maraga and his wife will be airlifted shortly to the capital Nairobi for specialised treatment.

David Kenani Maraga (born 1951) is a Kenyan lawyer and jurist. He is the 14th Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya.

Maraga, and three other judges made history by cancelling the 2017 presidential election because of hacking.

President Kenyatta was in the lead with 54% of the vote, but opponent Raila Odinga reported the evidence of the hacking to the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice ruling acquitted Kenyatta of any misconduct.
