Lorna Magara has been elected the new Chairperson Makerere University Council.
Magara gathered 11 votes out of 17, defeating former Internal Affairs Permanent Secretary, Stephen Kagoda.
“We have the pleasure to announce the new Chairperson of Makerere University Council, Mrs. Lorna Magara,” the university said in a short statement.
The University Council is the supreme governing body of the university.
Mrs. Lorna Magara is the first female to be elected Chairperson of Makerere University Council.
She replaces Dr Charles Wana-Etyem, whose term expired on Wednesday.
