Relatives of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s driver on Sunday rejected the money President Museveni sent to them in a condolence message.
Yasin Kawuma was killed in Arua by security forces that arrested and tortured Bobi Wine.
On Saturday, Bobi Wine visited the widow and orphans with a promise to look after them.
On Sunday, Museveni sent musicians Bebe Cool and Catherine Kusasira [who he meet at Rwakitura country home] to deliver a similar promise.
To her surprise, Kusasira was told to take back the Shs20m she had brought along with the president’s message.
The family told her they needed justice for the death of their loved ones not “being bought off”.
The widow had earlier appeared on TV pleading with sympathizers to give her a hand to raise the children.
“You kill our father and now you want to pay us Shs20m, we only want justice not the cash,” kids allegedly told off Kusasira.
Kusasira told press while holding the bundle of money that if the widow comes for her home, it will be given to her.
Asked where she got the money, Kusasira said she approached the president after feeling touched by Kawuma’s widows pleas.
“She told us the person who is supposed to receive the money will come on Thursday. When that person comes, we will hand it over,” Kusasira told press.
