Marta wins Fifa ‘Best’ women’s player of the year


BESOCCER -Legendary Brazilian striker Marta won the FIFA Best Women’s Player of the Year.

She has dominated women’s football for so long and adds another feather to her cap after leading Brazil to Copa America glory.

The Brazil legend beat out competition from Ada Hegerberg and Dzsenifer Marozsan.

Although she was not the favourite for the award, she was a worthy winner, scoring 13 goals and making six assists, helping Orlando Pride to the NWSL play-offs.


She was also named in the NWSL Best XI and captained Brazil to the Copa America Femenina title, winning all seven games.

She has made 133 international appearances and scored 110 goals.

One of the first superstars of women’s football, this is the sixth time she has won the award.
