Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago Friday left Mulago national referral hospital cursing.
He had gone to visit legislators Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and Francis Zaake who were arrested yesterday and barred from travelling abroad.
“It’s horrifying to note that a would be national health facility at Kiruddu has been turned into an illegal detention centre,” Lukwago told press outside the facility.
He said accessing Hon Kyagulanyi and Zaake at the Hospital wards-cum-cells was a nightmare.
“They are heavily guarded by mean-looking security operatives and the whole environment is very hostile.”

Lukwago, also a lawyer, said he had an engagement with the team of 9 doctors headed by the executive director of Mulago Hospital, Dr Byarugaba Baterana.
“…but they couldn’t legally defend their shambolic and reprehensible exercise. It’s a national tragedy,” Lukwago conclude.
Police later cleared Bobi Wine to fly to US to seek specialised medical treatment.
It is not clear whether Zaake will also be allowed to go as government had earlier promised.
