Barbra Itungo Kyagulanyi, the wife to the Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi, says she will fight and fight until her husband is released from military detention.
Speaking to NTV on Sunday, Barbie is she is popularly known, said no amount of pressure and acts of torture will stop her from fighting to see that her husband free.
She told NTV that though her husband was physically weak at the moment, he was still determined to continue fighting for what he called a more democratic Uganda.
Contrary to reports by pro-government MPs claiming Bobi Wine is fine, Barbie said her man’s heath is not good after being tortured by the military following the fracas that happened in the last campaigns of Arua Municipality MP seat.
Although no images of Bobi Wine have been released since the time of his arrest, his lawyers, wife and the officers of the Uganda Human rights Commission, who met him at Makindye Military barracks on Friday, said that he was severely tortured and is in great pain.
“His forehead is bruised and his eyes are red. He has many wounds including one on his ear. He seems to have been punched many times on the face. He cannot walk. He cannot sit straight. He speaks with difficulty and has a lot of pain breathing,” Barbie told NTV after visiting Bobi Wine.
A defence committee of parliament led by its chair MP Doreen Amule also visited Bobi Wine and afterwards reported that he was fine and had not been tortured.
“He is sleeping well in a good house. He is feeding well because we found him eating his matooke. He is fine,” Amule told journalists.
Amule was escorted by Ibrahim Kasozi, Anita Among, Peter Ogwang and Arinaitwe Rwakajara.
But Makindye East MP Ibrahim Kasozi described her remarks and those of President Museveni as mere lies told to them by the army given the fact that Bobi Wine needs urgent medication.
Kasozi one of the MPs that visited Kyagulanyi in Makindye barracks, said that looking at Bobi Wine’s physical appearance, there is no doubt that he is in agony because he feels pain in his hip.
“He cannot sit or stand on his own, he is bruised on the head and that he told MPs that the doctors told him he has a kidney problem, which is why he is requesting for medical attention.”
Kasozi said Bobi Wine had told them jokingly that military deserves a gold medal for the way they torture civilians.
