Former Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Hon Winnie Kiiza, says she fears Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine must be badly tortured.
“There is nothing taking place at the court martial, they don’t want to tell people that Hon. Kyagulanyi is in the barracks,” Kiiza who is in Gulu told press.
She added: “They are non-committal, they don’t want us to know exactly where he is but we demand that they tell us.”
Kiiza said they were able to see some MPs but they were severely tortured. Mityana municipality MP Francis Zaake was badly tortured.
“We have reason to believe that they tortured Hon. Kyagulanyi beyond measure, that’s why they can’t let anyone access him.”
She added: “If they can deny his wife and lawyers’ access, who then will know the state he is in? We are here to plead for justice, to plead that the rule of law prevails.”
Barbie Kyagulanyi and lawyers were barred from accessing Gulu military barracks where the legislator is being held.
Speaking on the matter, former FDC president Gen. Mugisha Muntu said they were yet have to find out if what is being said is true or not.
“Once we establish that, we shall engage with our lawyers to go on with the process. How could police have illegally searched the rooms of the journalists in their absence when they have the power to cordon off or get a search warrant for the place? Who then will believe the evidence you bring that you found them with illegal guns?”
Counsel Asuman Basalirwa said: “What we gather is that Bobi Wine is here but we have been denied access to go and meet him. However, there is concealment of information as well as a confusion.”
Earlier, General Court Martial Chairman Lt. Gen Gutti was seen leaving Makindye military court headed to Gulu town.
