Rwanda will be spending only 2 trillion francs this finical year, according to a cabinet decision made on Tuesday June 6, 2017.
This was reached in an extraordinary Cabinet Meeting chaired by The Right Honourable Prime Minister, Murekezi Anastase, convened in Village Urugwiro.
The Cabinet Meeting approved the Draft Law determining the State Finances for the 2017/2018 Fiscal Year valued at two trillion, ninety four billion nine hundred and ten million, four hundred eighty thousand five hundred forty- five (2, 094, 910, 480, 545 Frw).
It was confirmed by a statement signed by Stella Ford Mugabo, the Minister in Charge of Cabinet Affairs.
Rwandan Minister of finance and economic planning, Amb Claver Gatete, while presenting the Budget to the Parliament in April this year, said that 83% of the whole budget was generated from Rwandan taxpayers and from other Rwandan contributors .
He said that the budget will help Rwandan government implement its social economic plan labelled EDPRS2, Sustainable Development Goals and the Rwandan government seven years economic plan.
Amb Claver Gatete said that this financial year’s budget will be invested into normal activities and expenditures.
He revealed that Rwandan economy has increased at the 6.7% while it is planned that it will increase at 6.8% next year.
This year prices at market have increased at 7% while it is planned that it will increase at 5% in the coming year.
The exports have increased at 21.6% while imports increased at 0.7% as he told that Rwandan House of Representatives.
Summarily the budget increased with 140.7 billion Frw as compared to the one of last year.
The 2015/2016 national budget was Rwf1808.8 billion.
