Museveni visits estate where Amin soldiers nearly captured him
Together with his daughter, Natasha Karugire, President Museveni visited the family of the late Bugisu legendary FRONASA veteran, Maumbe Mukhwana at Malukhu housing estate, house 49 in Mbale.
Museveni said in their efforts to end Idi Amin’s regime in the early 1970’s, they held a meeting in this house and were ambushed by Amin’s soldiers.
“Some of my soldiers were killed in this compound and I managed to escape to Nashibisho forest.”
“We must always remember and appreciate the men and women who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of this country.”
Off the busy campaign trail, Museveni also took a stroll: from Kapchorwa State lodge, you can view Mt Kadam in Karamoja, Mt Elgon, Lake Bisina in the Teso region, and all the surroundings.
“Uganda is the best country in the World. Incomparable beauty!” he asserted.
“I always marvel at some Ugandans that look so desperate to travel to other countries, almost all of them not as endowed and as beautiful as Uganda.”
