A video is making rounds on social media showing Independent candidate John Katumba allegedly being slapped by a police officer.
The video shows Katumba being shoved away, he totters and nearly falls down.
He is holding a loud speaker in the middle of a crowd of people.
His bodyguards are seen engaging other police officers who seemingly attacked the presidential candidate.
We also hear others saying “sorry, sorry”.
Katumba condemned the act and later met the Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola.
“In line with the current state of affairs in the country. Today, we have held an engagement with the IGP on how to normalise relationships between the police and the candidates,” Katumba said on Friday.
“We think our meeting could deliver results in the event that the IGP follows through with our deliberations.”
“In the same spirit we congratulate candidate Kyagulanyi for getting back his liberty and we pray that we stand together as a nation in challenging all forces that seem to restrict the liberty of our fellow countrymen.”
