Makerere records stored digitally, fire won’t stop reopening – Nawangwe

Makerere university Vice Chancellor Prof Edward Nawangwe has said the fire outbreak will not stop the reopening of the university.

Finalist medical students are expected to resume studies next month.

“The fire at our Main Building was a very big tragedy,” Nawangwe said on Sunday.

“However, I would like to assure all our alumni, staff, students, and General public that ALL our records past and current; Human Resource, student, Academic and financial records are ALL safely stored in digital form.”

In his address, Nawangwe has highlighted that the fire started in the roof above the Public Relations Office, at the right wing of the Building.

Most human resource documents were digitized.

The Vice Chancellor has acknowledged overwhelming response and support from President Museveni, the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni and people across the globe.
