Singer and Kampala mayor aspirant Jose Chameleone has named 39 people on his city taskforce.
Last week, he opened a campaign office and announced a district taskforce.
“We are honoured that it has both senior and upcoming leaders who are thirsty for victory,” he said.
This coming week is going to be action packed week for his campaigns.
Chameleone on Monday picked nomination papers from the Electoral Commission, and interacted with fellow artists on the same day.
From Tuesday, he will be meeting interest groups – political parties, corporates, ghettos lipandas, transporters, religious leaders, special communities and trade groups.
“We shall from Wednesday start a city wide nomination signature collection process in all the 28 electoral areas that make up our city.”
“We hope this will take seven solid days of hard work.”
Chameleone consoled people in the arcades and markets, whose trade items were destroyed by floods.
“I also saw a Boda Boda rider who was saved from drowning. Many other people have lost homes. Its terrible.”
According to him, floods are an after effect of many years of no work to improve the drainage.
Since Sebaana built the Nakivubo channel, there has not been a major increase on the channel coverage and this is part of the main problem.
“Yesterday, I saw the outgoing Lord Mayor doing his rants, that people know what he has done. I challenge him to put his record of works on table so that people affected by floods understand.”
Otherwise people who lose their livelihood due to flood will not listen to those empty rants, he said.
“For us, fixing floods in number one on our agenda. One way is regulating the release of runoff to our channels through greening and a well worked reservoir system. We also need continuously expand our coverage of worked channels.”
