Kyabazinga unveils coffee union on 6th coronation fete

THE Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV Sunday celebrated his 6th Coronation Anniversary.

The function that was held at Igenge Royal Palace in Bugembe, Jinja City was also graced by the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga as a special guest.

The scientific celebrations were being celebrated under the theme “Surviving the Corona Virus Pandemic. Take Personal Responsibility and Cooperate with the Experts”.

Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) like wearing of face masks and social distancing were observed at the ceremony.

The Kyabazing was ushered in at his Royal tent by the Minister of Culture in Busoga Richard Mafumo after sounding his Royal drums at the palace.

In his address, the Kyabazinga call upon his subjects to continue observing Standard Operation Procedures put up the Ministry of Health of preventing the spread of COVID-19.

His Majesty said “I urge u to continue washing hands, wear face masks and keep social distance to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

The Kyabazinga also decried the highest rate of early child pregnancies realised in Busoga sub region during the lockdown.

He named the districts leading in early child pregnancies as Luuka, Namayingo and Kaliro.

He urged all stakeholders to join Busoga Kingdom in the fight against early child pregnancies.

The monarch also thanked MTN Uganda for sponsoring the event. He appreciated national media houses for the positive publicity offered to the Kingdom.

The Kyabazinga also launched the Nile Source Coffee Union Ltd company headed by Dr. Muduli that will boost coffee farming and development in Busoga.

The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga requested MTN to support Busoga in its development programs that benefit the Basoga.

MTN’s Mobile Money manager Steven Mutana and Busoga Kingdom’s 1st deputy Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Mohamadi Lubega signed an MOU of a sponsorship package.

The sponsorship package includes sponsoring Annual counties football tournament (Masaza Cup), Bicycle race, MTN foundation projects that include Health, Education and National Priority areas, Support to cultural institutions/Kingdom celebrations that include the Kyabazinga Coronation Anniversaries.

Present at the function include Busoga Kingdom Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muvawala, his deputies Prof. Dr. Muhamadi Lubega and Osman Noor Ahmed, Busoga Royal Concepts’ chairman Prof. Wasswa Balunywa, the Chief Prince (Issabalangira) of Busoga, Hereditary chiefs, Busoga Kingdom Ministers, Members of Parliament from Busoga and Clan Heads among others.
