Early celebrations kicked off Friday in Sheema Municipality as provisional results indicated Mr Dickson Katesumbwa as winner in the polls against his opponent Science and Technology minister, Dr Elioda Tumwesigye.
In Sheema district as in many parts of western Uganda, things had threatened to get out of hand, with reported tension among the contestants.
Up to the time the results were declared, the situation was tense.
Kateshumba, the new entrant, is a former Commissioner Customs at Uganda Revenue Authority [URA].
The incumbent, Elioda was seen being escorted out in quite an unceremonious manner.
A happy man in the video is heard saying, “thanks honourable for passing through our village for the last time, and saying bye”.
