Singer Ronald Mayinja has left the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and rejoined Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s camp.
Mayinja shocked everyone early in the year when joined NRM and even formed “Peace for all Movement” to reconcile the country.
It was later rumoured that he accepted large sums of money from President Museveni which the singer denied.
On Thursday, Mayinja was welcomed back to the now National Unity Platform (NUP), the political wing of People Power Movement.
“It’s with absolute pleasure that our president Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu yet again today has welcomed leaders at different levels into the National Unity Platform,” the party said.
Mayinja was received alongside Kawalya Abubaker, the KCCA speaker.
Mayinja is an artist who has always used his voice to sing about the injustices that have kept happening overtime.
NUP also welcomed comrade Swengere, a young ugandan who is fully devoted to to having a better country that works for all citizens and senior citizen Aloyious Matovu Joy, a man of unquestionable integrity and many other leaders.
“You are most welcome comrades,” Bobi Wine told them at the party headquarters in Kamwokya, Kampala.
He said it’s so energizing to see how thousands of Ugandans embrace the National Unity Platform everyday and are speaking with a common voice that Enough is Enough.
“Indeed we must raise up on the occasion now if we are to determine the fate of our country since the people who are making decisions right now for us won’t be around to face the outcomes of the decisions that they are making today.”
He added: “So its upon us to decide the kind of Uganda that we want us & our children to live in. So we must assert our voices in 2021 to make it happen.”
