President Yoweri Museveni has picked forms for nomination as the National Resistance Movement presidential flag bearer in the 2021 general Elections.
He has also paid Shs20m as nomination fees for both positions.
Museveni who seeks to extend his tenure as president to 40 years also picked forms for the party National chairman a position he is currently occupying.
The revelation was made by NRM electoral commission chairman Tanga Odoi at a press conference at the NRM electoral commission offices in Kampala on Monday, July 20.
Museveni is expected to be widely endorsed for both positions by the party delegates when they meet virtually next month.
The only positions that will be subjected to the process of elections are; the national chairperson, the first national vice chairperson, the second national vice chairperson (female) and the six regional vice chairpersons.
Secretariat hands over register
The NRM Secretariat on Monday handed over the Party Membership register to the NRM Electoral Commission at a function held at the party headquarters in Kampala.
The function was presided over by the Deputy Secretary General Hon Richard Todwong.
Present also were; the NRM Vice Chairperson Northern Hon Sam Engola, the Party’s National Treasurer Hon Rose Namayanja Nsereko, Party EC Deputy Chairperson Hon John Alimpa Kijaaji, Deputy National Treasurer Hon Jacqueline Kyatuheire, Hon Mathias Kasamba (Director- Mobilisation), Hon Emmanuel Dombo (Director-Information) Hajat Medina Naham (Director -Finance & Administration), NRM EC Commissioner Hon Jane Alisemeera, Zonal Coordinators among others.
Last week, the Party released its 2020-21 electoral Road map to kick start activities ahead of the Nation General Elections.
