Opposition figure Kizza Besigye has called out Bugiri Resident District Commissioner [RDC] Godfrey Nyakahuma for blocking his radio talk show.
Besigye was supposed to be hosted on Eastern Voice Fm programme last night (Sunday, 10th May) from 9pm-12Midnight.
“The radio station was ordered not to host me by RDC Mr Godfrey Nyakahuma & District Internal Security Officer (DISO) Mr Mukasa Ssali Ronald,” Besigye noted.
“RDC said under no circumstances should they ever host me!”
According to Besigye, the Station Administration recorded the RDC’s orders as they were delivered.
He called it a violation of basic rights and the law is the order of the day.
Besigye says the recorded telephone exchange was longer and he will be publish the other segments later on.
“A clear display of abuse of power and violation of fundamental Human Rights. This partisan repression, regrettably, is official policy of NRM/Museveni Junta. I have been capriciously denied access to radio programs (outside Kampala) many times,” he said.
In February 2020, Besigye was detained in Nalufenya, Jinja, for a day and driven by Police back to Kampala to stop him being hosted on Radio.
Earlier, he would also been violently evicted from NBS Radio, Jinja.
“The struggle for freedom must continue till Uganda is free,” he said.
