Power distributor Umeme says there is a nation-wide power outage.
“We have lost transmission across the Nation which has caused a nation wide blackout, please bare with us as we investigate the cause and work on restoration.”
“All inconveniences are highly regrettable.”
Uganda Electricity Transmission Company said it had not effected load shedding.
“We are experiencing a fault on the whole grid country wide and we are working on restoring as fast as possible.”
This is the second time there is a national outage in a space of weeks.
The first happened as President Museveni addressed the nation on Covid19.
It was attributed to a floating island on Nalubale dam in Jinja district.
The national load-shedding will take three days; Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9am to 5pm.
“We have received communication about water release testing from our counterparts at Nalubale, Kiira, Bujagali and Isimba generation plants which will be carried out 9th-11th May,” Umeme said.
“We may effect load shedding during this time.”
