Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake has been rushed to Kiruddu National Referral Hospital in Kampala after his health condition deteriorated.
“Hon. Francis Zaake’s health condition has worsened,” said Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine on Wednesday morning.
“He has now been placed on oxygen at Kiruddu hospital where he is currently admitted, still under police detention,” Bobi Wine noted.
He added: “The doctors are contemplating taking him into the ICU! A Member of Parliament is tortured to near death by regime enforcers!”
Zaake was arrested on April 19, 202, for allegedly flouting a presidential directives against distribution of food and reportedly tortured in detention.
In an affidavit sworn by Hon. Paul Mwiru who was the only one permitted to see Hon. Zaake while at SIU Kireka, he says:
“Hon. Zaake was visibly frail. His face was thoroughly bruised. His shirt was torn to threads. His joints were swollen. Bits of flesh hang off his chest as though someone had attempted to randomly pluck them out with a fork but stopped midway. He could not see. He could not stand.”
Doctors are contemplating of taking him into intensive care after being brutalised by security operatives attached to the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and police.
On Tuesday, President Museveni was not amused by the fact that only Zaake has been arrested for distributing food.
“Why arrest MP Zaake and then you leave other people including NRM ministers?” he wondered.
