Mpuuga, Ssegona return Shs20m Covid19 cash

Two more Members of Parliament have returned the Shs20m Covid19 bribe from the Shs10bn that parliament gave itself.

They are Medard Lubega Ssegona Akalyamaggwa of Busiro county East constituency and Mathias Mpuuga of Masaka Municipality.

They join Kyadondo East law maker Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who was the first to reject the money.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga Friday ordered Parliament’s Rules, Privilege and Discipline Committee to investigate Bobi Wine for calling their cut a bribe.

“I think we need to take action. How can a Minister solicit for a question and then dramatically rejects, to embarrass the House, people will have to answer,” she told the house.

“For Kyagulanyi, after making a statement, he will go to the Rules Committee for bringing Parliament into disrepute, even the others, I will tell you what to do.”

Bobi Wine returned the money as per directive of Clerk to Parliament but on the deposit slip, he said he was returning a bribe.

Meanwhile, Kadaga also ordered minister of Trade Amelia Kyambadde disciplined for requesting NBS TV host Simon Kaggwa Njala to ask her about the Shs10bn saga.
