Police has now taken NBS TV’s senior anchor Samson Kasumba at his home to conduct a search.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says Samson Kasumba’s arrest is not in anyway connected to his journalistic work.
He is being investigated together with others for alleged ‘subversive activities.’
He adds that detectives from Electoral & Political offenses department are interrogating him.
Kasumba was arrested last night shortly after anchoring “NBS Liveat9” with Sheila Nduhukire.
Earlier reports show that he was charged with sedition.
“As police, we want to confirm that Kasumba of NBS TV is under arrest,” Enanga told press Tuesday.
“He was picked yesterday evening as he was heading back home. He is a subject of investigation and it’s not connected in anyway to his journalistic work.”
According to Enanga, experts from the Electoral and Political Offenses Department managed to interrogate and interview Kasumba.
“We are going to search different areas of interest today with him.”
“He is in good state and collaborating with the investigation team. Details will be availed.”
