Covid19 taskforce hits Shs4.3bn after NRM raises Shs380m


The National taskforce spearheading efforts to raise relief support has to date raised UGX 4.3 billion.

This was after the ruling NRM party made its donation of UGX 380 million to the government to support the fight against COVID19.

The donation was Sunday presented to the Chairman of the National Task Force Rt. Hon. Dr. Ruhankana Rugunda by the 1st National Vice Chairperson Rt. Hon. Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo during the brief function held at OPM and witnessed by the Secretaty General Rt. Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba and the National Treasurer Hon. Rose Namayanja Nsereko.

Al-Hajji Kigongo reminded Ugandans to respect and observe the fatherly guidance from H.E. President Yoweri Museveni on how to prevent the spread of the Corona Virus without questions.

He commended the National Task Force for the commitment on duty, so far exhibited.

Dr. Rugunda said NRM had set a good example and called upon other members of IPOD to emulate them.

“I salute the National Chairman and President H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the entire leadership of NRM for demonstrating their commitment towards serving the people of Uganda”, Rugunda remarked.

The Secretary General Rt. Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba hailed Premier Rugunda and his team for their grounded commitment towards fighting the virus.

“As a Party in power we are grateful to your committee that despite all chalenges, you have brought us this far”, Lumumba said.

The Chairperson of the Covid -19 Response Committee Mr. Katongole said NRM has love for humanity.

“When you see a Political Party coming forward to join the rest in running to the rescue of it’s people, then you know such a Party has a future and the love for humanity,” he said.
