A retired Uganda Police officer Hellen Alyek has died.
Alyek passed on Saturday, according to close friends.
She previously had an accident which saw her with a fractured collar bone.
She collapsed in the bathroom yesterday morning at her home in Mukono district.
By the time of publishing the story, her body was still at a health centre in Mukono.
It is believed she had other health complications.
She too was a sports personality while at Uganda police.
Police has since agreed to take up her burial arrangements.
She was the first senior female police officer to introduce Child and Family Protection Unit in the Uganda Police in 1994.
By the time of her death, Hellen Alyek was a Commissioner with Alebtong District Service Commission.
She set up the first Gender-based Violence [GBV] shelter in Lira District.
She is also a next of kin to late sports legend John Akii Bua.
