Police in Wakiso are investigating a case of attempted murder by shooting.

The incident happened at Energo site in Kigogwa zone, Kiryamuli ward, Gombe Division, Wakiso district.

It’s alleged that on Wednesday 15/4/ 2020 at around 1530 hours one OKELLO DAN, a security guard attached to Seracen deployed to guard at Energo site in Kigogwa, shot one Katende Mohammed.

Katende is a resident of Kigogwa and a former employee at Energo site. He was shot on his left elbow.

According to eye witnesses, the victim had stopped working with Energo but he would always go to the site to converse with his former workmates.

On the fateful day, Katende was seen talking with the guard and suddenly people around the area heard a gun shot.

The guard threw away his gun as he ran towards the main road where angry mob descended on him and beat him severely to near death.

The security guard and the victim were rushed to Mulago hospital for treatment.

The victim was later on discharged from the hospital since he was not in a worrying condition while the guard is still undergoing treatment at Mulago hospital.

It is suspected that the guard could have picked a quarrel with the victim which eventually led to the shooting.

The gun was recovered at the site by Officers from Matuga Police Station and was exhibited.

“Inquiries are ongoing and we appeal to members of the public not to take the law into their hand,” said SP Patrick Onyango,
