While delivering his message, Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga said they had to have the Kabaka’s Birthday Run on 5th April but didn’t because of COVID19.

“When this has passed, we shall have the marathon. Those who had bought kits or have old kits should put them on today.”

Mayiga appealed upon the security forces to use minimal force when implementing the directives on preventing the spread of COVID19.

He said the public should also respect the directives and the security personnel implementing them.

“On behalf of myself, family, Buganda Kingdom and country at large, I would like to wish Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi a happy 65th birthday.”

“We thank God for the protection he has given our king and the wisdom bestowed upon him to initiate development programs and achieve them for the 27 years he has reigned as the king of Buganda.”

On Saturday, the Kabaka gave a message on COVID19. He urged his subjects to comply to the directives given by the authorities.

“We are required to stay home, be clean in all aspects, clean our hands with soap among others to survive the pandemic,” Mayiga noted.

Yesterday the Archbishop of Kampala offered special prayers for the Kabaka.

“Other religious leaders have offered prayers as well and we urge all of you to pray for the Kabaka, the Kingdom of Buganda and the country at large. May God protect you all.”
