Mbale District Police Commander responded to a night emergency call from an expectant mother whom she picks her miles away and delivered to hospital.
The mother has given birth a bouncing baby boy.
On Saturday night, Mbale District Police Commander, SP Fred Ahimbisibwe rushed Rita Namboozo to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.
This was after Namboozo, a resident of Nabanyolo, Wanale Sub-county called him for transport assistance to the hospital after she experienced labor pains at 3am.
SP Ahimbisibwe drove to her home, picked her and delivered her to hospital where she gave birth to a baby boy.
Namboozo says she noted the phone contact when the DPC appeared on one of Mbale’s local FM radios for a community policing exercise.
“We want to encourage the public to have these contacts.
They can help in case of an emergency like that of Namboozo,” police said in a statement.
