Nairobi Ksh72m ATM heist mastermind shot dead

The suspect

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations-Kenya Tuesday gunned down the mastermind in Ksh.72m Nairobi West ATM Heist last year.

Wycliff Vincent ODUOR was shot dead in a fierce shootout between a 3-man gang of Robbery W/Violence suspects and Detectives responding to a distress call from the public at Kayole Junction in Nairobi.

The other two escaped on the motorbike but are being pursued.

A Pistol and a kitchen knife recovered from the slain suspect.

Wycliff Oduor aka ‘Vinii’ has been out on a Ksh. 500,000 Bond after his arraignment following the Heist.

Acting on Intelligence that four individuals on board a motor vehicle registration number KCY 435E were planning to commit crime within Ruiru area, DCI detectives based at Ruiru laid an ambush where they managed to intercept the motor vehicle and arrest Stephen Butiya Lairuka, Erick Irungu Karanja, Job Okundi and Francis Mwangangi who was the driver of the vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle, the detectives recovered items that are believed to have been used to break into premises.

Preliminary Investigations have revealed that the suspects are linked to several breakings into godowns, stores and shops along Eastern bypass and in Industrial area.

It has also been established that the suspects are Wanted Criminals in a robbery with violence case and have been on the run since August 2018.
